Nikon GP-1 : GPS accessories for D3100

If you love shooting in outdoor / travelling, you may want to ‘geotag’ your photos with the gps coordinates of your current location. No more worries like ‘where did i take this photo’ etc. The GP-1 is Nikon’s ‘official’  accesories that can record GPS information such as latitude, longitude, altitude, and time information. It’s attaches to camera’s accessory shoe or a camera strap via strap adapter GP1-CL1. Power is supplied from the camera.

It’s brand new and available for $34.95 . The grip can hold two EN-EL14 battery and has a built-in vertical release button. Additionally, you can use a shutter release with the battery grip using special cable included in the package.

Top 3 portrait lenses for Nikon D3100

Don’t you love taking portrait photographs of your lovely family or friends ? You can use any lenses to take portraits but for best results use a special portrait lens . Basically , you’ll need a lens that has medium focal length (50mm to 135mm , in 35mm format )  and small aperture value ( wide opening ). With these combination would allow us to take sharp portrait photos with nice blurred out-of-focus background (or bokeh). It’s important to have out-of-focus background to help separate our subject (person) from its background.

Nikon D3100 feritte core

Nikon D3100 provide two Ferrite Cores inside the box : smaller one for USB cables and other for A/V cables. Ferrite Cores ( also known as Ferrite Bead ) designed to filter high frequency noises in electronics. These noises can affect data transfer performance or quality. Ferrite Cores clipped onto cables like ilustration below ( see manual page 116 )
